The Shakespeare birthday celebrations coincide with Saint George’s Day. Although Shakespeare was born (and died) on 23 April, the Stratford-upon-Avon celebrations occur on the first Monday after Easter week. In 2011 this celebration fell on 30 April.
As in previous years, the same Shakespeare look-a-like is taken by procession through the streets of Stratford from his birthplace to his grave at Holy Trinity Church.
